Grace and Owen’s Nature-Inspired Wild Basin Lodge Wedding

Bride and groom laugh together on rocks beside the river during their Wild Basin Lodge wedding.

Grace and Owen’s Wild Basin Lodge wedding paired a nature-inspired summer celebration with a subtle vintage feel in Allenspark, Colorado.

They wanted an intimate day centered on the people they love most. Shades of green and loose summer blooms felt right at home among the meadow, river, and aspens surrounding the lodge.

Their ceremony took place at Meadow Peak, portraits brought us down to the river and along an aspen-lined trail, and their first dance happened outside on the River Run Deck.

Having photographed celebrations throughout Colorado, I love venues where each part of the day can have its own atmosphere without asking couples to spend hours traveling between locations.

Wild Basin Lodge does that especially well.

Why Grace and Owen Chose Wild Basin Lodge

Grace and Owen chose the Wild Basin Lodge wedding venue because it gave them privacy, convenience, and easy access to the landscape they wanted their guests to experience.

The venue sits on 13 private acres and hosts only one wedding each day. Once everyone arrived, they could settle into the celebration without sharing the property with another event or traveling elsewhere for the reception.

Its location in Allenspark was another major part of the appeal. Wild Basin Lodge sits just outside Rocky Mountain National Park, allowing guests to experience this part of Colorado while keeping the entire wedding on private grounds.

For couples drawn to a Rocky Mountain National Park wedding venue but wanting the amenities and privacy of a dedicated property, Wild Basin Lodge offers a practical alternative close to the park.

A Nature-Inspired Wild Basin Lodge Summer Wedding

Grace and Owen’s Wild Basin Lodge summer wedding drew its design from the season rather than trying to transform the property.

Shades of green carried through the details, while loose, colorful blooms echoed the meadow and summer growth surrounding the lodge.

At Meadow Peak, the florals added texture and color without competing with the open setting.

The vintage influence appeared more quietly through their attire and the film photographs, giving the gallery a nostalgic quality without making the celebration feel overly themed.

A Meadow Ceremony Beneath the Mountains

Grace and Owen exchanged vows at Meadow Peak, one of the venue’s two outdoor ceremony sites.

The site sits at approximately 8,083 feet, surrounded by meadow grasses and aspens with the mountains rising beyond them.

It’s available year-round, but summer brings full greenery and movement through the grass and trees that suited Grace and Owen’s vision beautifully.

The ceremony site felt expansive, while their floral design and intimate gathering kept the moment personal.

That balance is one of Meadow Peak’s strengths. At a Wild Basin Lodge wedding in Colorado, the landscape frames the ceremony without becoming the entire story.

Favorite Locations for Wild Basin Lodge Wedding Photos

The grounds offer several distinct portrait settings within a short walk of the ceremony and reception.

After Grace and Owen’s vows, we moved from the open meadow to an aspen-lined trail and then down to the river. The meadow kept the mountains present, the aspens created a quieter frame, and the water added movement and a softer energy.

Because each location was nearby, we could create a varied set of wedding photos at Wild Basin Lodge without building a separate portrait excursion into the timeline.

As a wedding photographer, I prefer to work in short, intentional windows, and Wild Basin Lodge made this entirely possible. I believe that photographs should add to the experience of the day, not take you away from it.

A First Dance on the River Run Deck

One of my favorite moments at Wild Basin Lodge weddings happens on the River Run Deck.

Grace and Owen shared their first dance beneath the aspens, with the St. Vrain River beside them and their guests watching from the amphitheater above.

The layout makes dancing here feel intimate without hiding it away. Your guests remain part of the moment, while you have space to take it in together.

Even when Meadow Peak is chosen for the ceremony, River Run can still become an important part of the day through portraits, special dances, or a few quiet minutes outside.

Ending the Reception With a Bubble Exit

I stayed through the end of Grace and Owen’s reception to photograph their bubble exit.

Guests lined the path and filled the air with bubbles as they ran out together, giving the celebration one final lighthearted moment.

Bubbles were also a practical choice for their Colorado mountain wedding. The bubbles created movement in the photographs without bringing an open flame into a dry, wooded setting.

More than anything, the exit felt like Grace and Owen. It was playful, easy, and a fitting end to a day that never felt overly staged.

Ceremony and Reception Spaces at the Wild Basin Lodge Wedding Venue

The Wild Basin Lodge wedding venue can host approximately 25 to 200 guests, with two outdoor ceremony sites and a 15,000-square-foot lodge for the reception.

Meadow Peak

Meadow Peak is the more open ceremony setting, placing the vows in a meadow with mountain and aspen views beyond. It will work well if you want the landscape to remain present throughout your ceremony.

River Run

River Run sits beside the St. Vrain River beneath the trees. Amphitheater seating keeps guests close, and stair-free access is available. If you choose Meadow Peak,  but don’t use this space for your ceremony, you can still use the area for portraits or special dances.

The Lodge

The lower floor of the lodge can seat approximately 200 guests for dinner. Upstairs, the main floor includes the dance floor, bars, fireplace, dessert and coffee areas, and access to a wraparound deck overlooking the river and Mt. Copeland.

This layout gives dinner, dancing, drinks, and quieter conversations their own spaces without making the reception feel divided.

The Dining Experience at a Wedding at Wild Basin Lodge

Catering is handled in-house for a wedding at Wild Basin Lodge, so the culinary and service teams already understand the property and reception flow.

That can simplify planning, but you should still review menu choices, bar options, and food and beverage minimums early. Those minimums vary by season and day of the week and are applied toward catering and bar service.

How Much Does a Wild Basin Lodge Wedding Cost

The cost of a Wild Basin Lodge wedding depends largely on the season and day selected.

At the time of writing, venue rental rates range from approximately $3,000 on quieter dates to $16,000 for a peak-season Saturday. From June through August, published starting rates are approximately $7,500 from Monday through Thursday, $10,500 on Fridays and Sundays, and $13,500 on Saturdays.

Food and beverage minimums are separate and generally range from $5,000 to $15,000. The final Wild Basin Lodge wedding price you’ll pay should also account for photography, florals, attire, entertainment, beauty services, stationery, transportation, and additional design elements.

Because rates can change, I suggest reviewing the latest Wild Basin Lodge wedding packages or requesting a proposal before finalizing your budget.

Insider Tips for a Wild Basin Lodge Wedding

Having photographed weddings at Wild Basin Lodge, I’ve seen how a few thoughtful choices can make the day feel smoother for both couples and their guests. These are the details I recommend keeping in mind while planning your own Wild Basin Lodge wedding.

  • Tour both ceremony sites before choosing. Meadow Peak feels open and expansive, while River Run offers a quieter setting beside the water.
  • Build several short portrait windows into the timeline instead of one long session. The meadow, aspens, and river are close enough to create variety without taking you away from your guests for long.
  • Let guests know that Meadow Peak sits above 8,000 feet and encourage them to stay hydrated throughout the day.
  • Ask exactly what the weather backup looks like for your ceremony site and guest count before finalizing the layout.
  • Consider bubbles, ribbon wands, or another venue-approved alternative to sparklers.

Planning a Wild Basin Lodge Wedding That Feels Like You

Grace and Owen chose Wild Basin Lodge because the property supported the way they wanted to spend their day, not simply because it offered beautiful scenery.

Their ceremony felt intimate within the open meadow, their portraits brought them to the river and beneath the aspens without taking them far from their guests, and their first dance remained outdoors under the trees.

That is what the right venue can offer. It gives your priorities room to shape the day instead of asking you to plan everything around the property.
